There are endless places for you to put up timeshares for sale.  However, only a few of them are really effective.  And, some will require more effort on your part while others take care of all the details for you.

Here is a list of the 7 most common places for placing timeshares for sale:

1. Property Agent Onsite at Your Timeshare Property. It is only recommended that you use this source if the property is not otherwise still selling new timeshares.

2. Licensed Listing Broker.  Make sure you retain one who specializes in timeshare properties as opposed to other real estate.  Also, insist on getting and reviewing in detail the broker's listing package to make sure you are not entering into any pitfalls.  As with any service provider you hire, ask for and actually talk with references (other clients).

3. Online Listing Services.  This is a very common way to list a timeshare for sale without having to pay enormous commissions.  There are some reputable ones out there with fair prices and no lock-in periods.  Do your homework to make sure the service gets a decent amount of traffic to their site and has fair terms.

4. eBay's Timeshare Listing Service.  Many have claimed to have successfully sold their timeshare on eBay.  eBay has guidelines and rules specifically for timeshare auction listings to be sure to read and comply with them.

5. Advertise Yourself. If you want to save on fees and commissions, advertising is another option.  This method has proven more effective because who better to sell the timeshare than the person who owns it and has the biggest interest in selling it.  Consider Craigslist, papers in the local area where the timeshare is located or look for owner operated websites for the property as some of the best potential buyers are ones that current own a timeshare at he same property and want more weeks.
